Id Please

Have been asked about this tree whether its healthy by a customer but not sure what it is? they think the tree is some form of chestnut? I have attached a picture of the blistering of the bark around the stem about a foot up from the ground level, and also a seedling that is growing from it.

 

Any help?

and also Phytophthora cactorum or Phytophthora citricola. - which means it's doomed.....

 

Maybe not; the infection first indicates that dirt is on the stem, and the flare needs inspecting, and cleaning. Many trees recover from this; though not many have that unfortunate codominance! :thumbdown:
