We have just looked at a beautiful holm oak for a customer. It is on their drive way and starting to rot, it clearly had a crown reduction a few years ago and now rot is working its way through the left hand side of the tree. It is now hollow in the main trunk with a fair amount of rot in the wood, mycelium under the bark and quite abit of bark loss lower down with a curly bracket fungus which looks like dried up honey fungus (but cant be sure).

The customer wants it down as they are worried it will fall at some point, personally i would leave it a couple more years and have suggested this to the customer but they are pretty adamant.

Any suggestions? as i dont know if i can bring myself to take down such a good lookin tree!:scared1:
