Description
  • Dark grey/brown perennial (sometimes hoof shaped) bracket. Pore surface is rust brown often upward slanted. Small round pores. Spore whitish/yellow.
Host Species
  • Wide broadleaf range. UK mainly on Quercus but noted in FRDBI on Fagus, Fraxinea, Castanea & Ulmus
Mode Of Decay
  • White rot
Distribution
  • Across Europe, but rare in UK
Notes
  • Slow growing parasite, causing white heart rot (Butin)
