As it says on the tin, looking at getting a climbing lid? Going to get one shipped out to NZ from the uk and don't know if one is better than the other. I know it's down to preference, but thought I would see what the Adults had and get some advise.

Thanks for looking,

Matt

I've never tried the Stein so can't comment but I find my Petzl very comfortable. I tend to get headaches like a bad hangover from a poor fitting helmet but I find the Petzl fits very nicely and is very comfy, lots of adjustment. And it has foam rubber pads round it, not fabric or leather, so no 'stinky helmet' either....

I've had both and prefer the Petzl. The Stein was really comfy, the problem i found with it was the sweat band got very itchy and smelly very quickly, and the ear defenders never sat properly round my ears because the strap got in the way. I can't find anything to complain about with the Petzl!

I have to say the Petzl , fits well and very comfortable, the adjustment is very good, mine came with the Sordin ear defenders and guard which adjust and fit well, have changed the inner part of the defenders as they got a bit smelly. I will replace it with another Petzl next year as it will be five years old.

I must be the only person who hates the petzl with a passion aha I found it never sits on my head right, feels really sloply aswell, I use the stein which I thinks great really comfotable and fits really well; although it can can hot which is an advantage with the petzl as said above the sweat band gets smelly, but you only have to wash it and the newer stein helmet uses a different material which i think is an improvement! all down to personal preference try to have a go with both if possible .

Ive had them both and I prefer the Stein. More comfey and lighter. The petzl cant take as much abuse as the Stein. The only downside for me with the Stein is you have to rinse/wash the interior of your lid more often but I dont think its that bad of a thing to do.
