Morning all, putting some of our guys through their chipper course and was just wandering...... Lantra or Nptc? we have a local company who can put them through the lantra one at a good price, or do you think I should stick to Nptc????

Lantra has just as much clought IMO and it's only the chipper course. Also the lantra is one day if im right where as NPTC is a assesment on another working day!

Indeed, and ive got 6-7 guys going on it! so the lantra one is looking more promising £££££

Id go for lantra i have my digger and mewp ticket with them, thorough courses, although a consideration may be the certificates expire after 5 years.

NPTC every time, as it’s independently assessed.

Im using nptc for everything else, just trying to put so many guys through at once seems a lot easier with lantra, we have a gang of 7 going and its done in a day, where as if I went with nptc our local college (85miles away) runs it over 2 days, and a lot more expensive, added to that the extra days down-time for the guys it suddnley becomes VERY expensive

alrite mate well i suggest u go lantra if theres a few lads but it only lasts 5 years but if you trust them well enough i would go nptc ass its for life

These are older guys who will just be running around chipping things mainly for highways and la, When I get the fulltime climbers and traniees/groundies in I will put them through the nptc one as I think it will hold more value with the arb assessment.

although the nptc ticket tends to be more influencail, the rules are you should have a certificate of competance. it dont matter whos name is on it (lantra, nptc, in-house)

in the past, the two were seperate courses.
nowadays, lantra does a course, nptc does the assessment of that course.
with lantra, chaps are trained, then given a certif, this usualy expires after five years, which encourages updates, which can be very handy.
as nptc is just an assessment, you either pass or fail, its not hard to pass if youv been using the kit relativly safely, i passed mine easily without anyprobs, and without the lantra training.
