I have made the decision to go back to a Landrover defender and need it as a 4x4 toolbox that can tow well, esp off road.

I have found a few great looking 110 utility spec with shutters and racking that would be ideal, but not having had an ex utility before, wondered if it was a good idea? They seem ideal:001_cool:

My alternative was to get a 110 PU not HCPU, and fit with a decent canopy with shutters etc. Any thoughts??

We ran an ex-utilities LR 110 Td5 11 seater for 5 years, bought at a UK auction so a bit of a punt at the time. Biggest issue we had was front brake caliper rebuild. After that it was the usual issues; power steering pump leak, starter motor, fuel pump but tbh I would not credit these issues with the power company that owned it from new.

Looks like a tidy example:thumbup:

Hi NLJ,

Looks like a smart Landy - we have a 300 TDi Disco but a bit ancient.

Bought an ex police Sierra once that went like a rocket, but none other than that, just got to give it a good check over for signs of abuse & check service history & see what it drives like if possible. I suspect the newer ones dont have half the faults older ones do.

Theres plenty of places doing spares on line when you need something.

I run an ex Eon power Landy 130. It was converted to a tipper before I got it so ideal for my work vehicle & I just love it. Extras that were installed from new, night heater, heated seats/windscreen, electric windows and a Husky winch. It had a full service history up to the previous owner, now done 135000 miles and still going strong. If you think the one you've found would suit then go for it.

I had a td5 ex utility that lasted over 200000 miles hard work and now have a tdci that was eon/western power. Pulls much better than td5 and quiet(ish).

I think its a useful set up for the type of work we do but sometimes wish I had a double cab for extra person.

The only issues I think they have over other landrover is the racking/rollershutters etc can get a bit rattly/squeaky!

Is that one from ex-mod. I got mine from them and a mate got a tipper. Seem really helpful with good warranty etc

This is our tdci. It was wrapped in white but wasnt great. It was ment to be more orange but the wrap took the lacquer off and it went a bit red when it was blown over! only down side is people asking if it was a fire engine!!!
