Hog roast

Do a hog roast for my misses brother as he's leaving to go traveling. I've been asked to provide the wood for it. I've heard some mixed amounts on how much wood I'll need. 2 people I've spoken to say 2-3 bulk bags, but the guy cooking it seems to think ill need 7-8cbm work. 13 bulk bags. To me this seems extreme. I know it's got to cook for 8-10 hour but still.

Opinions please people.

Hmm. It's not like your meant to stack it up like a raging fire. It's supposed to be embers. I'll give them a few and see what happens. I'm not prepared to make. Dent in my log pile for this. Otherwise it would be cheaper to do it on gas

Yeh 13 bags is way over the top , I once cooked a whole butterflied lamb over a fire pick for around 9 hours and I reckon I used about a bag and a bit of mainly decent sized lumps of beech . You sure he didn't mean netted bags ?

I run a hog roast company but we don't do it over wood because it's expensive! We cook ours for 8min per kg plus two hours. Just make sure it's cooked!! Get a probe you need to test 3 locations on the pig and you need to get the temp to 72c & the probe needs to stay in the pig for 2 min
