Ash tree fungi

Can anyone give an id on this please.

Found around the base of two large-ish Ash trees.

The feel of it was like hard rubber - not woody like Gano but not as squishy as inonotus.

I've got other pics but would have to transfer from camera phone.

I think you might be right there. Just looked up images of that and it does look similar to the brackets on the other tree although i couldn't get a very close look as they were growing out of a steep bank of the side of a stream below the truck.
