I've been looking into doing the PTS training but am unsure as to whether a) is there much work out there for small sub contractors looking to branch out b) how accessible the training is and c) how much does it cost. ANy advice from those of you already doing this type of work would be great.

Im not sure about where you are mate but up here the railway work is dead, Ive got my PTS and ive contacted as many as possible in the north west and ive been told its really slow, i know for a fact Network rail have made massive cut backs recently as i lost my job on the railway in June due to money saving!!

Ring round the companys doing rail work in your area and just ask the question, see whats out there!

The course itself is a doddle, really easy!
