Hi guys looking for a bit of help looking to help one of my members of staff step it up to being a team leader but he lacks a bit of confidence sometimes but I know he's got it in him I was looking for a management course to help his skills and mentality a bit and help him along in his career progress any help is well appreciated thanks

How about putting him through some safety training? IOSH managing safely or CITB Site Supervisor SSSTS.

 

Get them on a level2/4 arb course?

In my previous career I was responsible for 40 + members of staff & imo any course isn't going to make him a manager! It's down to you to develop him into his this role. Try a mentoring approach & ask him what he would do when various scenarios actually happen, then let him action those for himself to see how he handles them. Psychology is probably the most important factor to people management, whether it be staff or customers. His lack of confidence will be his weakness especially with the lads he works alongside atm, you don't want him cocky just quietly confident & that comes from experiencing many different situations & differing results. On each occasion ask him what went well, what didn't go so well, what he would do differently in the future to get a better result.
