Larch weights

Recommended Posts

Hi, can anyone tell me how to work out the weight of a larch when fresh felled and how much weight it would lose in a year of being on the deck, they are de limbed some full length (between 20m and 30m) and some cut to 5m, any constructive input greatly appreciated😄

Regards John

Cheers, is there a book or some such that gives weight to volume of all wood types or is yours the voice of experience?

This is what you want all you ever wanted to know are more. And enough maths do get you a GCSE if you like that sort of thing.

TCD has sold a lot of Larch so i'd guess his figures are spot on but I've just checked the book and it says mine are right.

I thought Larch was higher than that 1.11 for EL and 1.2 for HL/JL.

Other way round. Blue book is pretty reliable and euroF abide by it i.e 25cuM on a lorry will weigh iro 21.25t. I'm processing some JL at the moment that was decked over a year ago and left rigged out in pole length; my goodness is it heavy. Bark falls off but the sap is spraying so much I keep thinking I've got an oil leak in the head.
