Local company sent me a letter?

Evening all,

Another tree company, who are bigger and more established than I am (based 40 mins away) wrote a letter to me today with a poster and card attached, beginning with dear sir, I am writing to introduce ourselves for your consideration. Followed on by listing their services, what they offer, free quotes, how many years they've been running, who they do contracts for etc, all of which was quite interesting and they had a really nice website to look at etc.

My only question, why? Is this a way of letting me know who they are, are they looking for me to give them work if I'm in 'their' area etc, or is it so I have someone to turn to if a job is beyond me at this stage.

I was going to email them but thought I would ask first incase this is quite a standard thing that I just haven't encountered yet.

Cheers!
