Yea maybe I should have spotted it, but I missed it, that's why you get your groundie to have a look too. I climb and ground and I would have spotted it and told the climber to go and cut it. Normally he is very good. Oh, and so am i

Lol, nothing like a bit of self praise billy.

It's easy to say you should have spotted them yourself but you do get a better picture from the ground.

Had you taken your rope out?

I'm not sure if it's common practice down south but up north and when I climb my groundsmans are competent climbers and vice versa when I ground. I actually hate the word 'groundy' anyway I'm not sure what you are trying to do in that picture a reduction?? If so you can't blame your groundsman for that. A competent climber can reduce a tree and have great communication with your groundsman. The first cut should be discussed with groundsman then the rest is simple specially with that tree. More difficult trees can be guided through with the help of a groundsman. Poor effort my friend

I'd go with that. CJM, but I always valued input from the ground. The real RJ experts don't need any.

Most of my reductions end up with a grind!

I think most reductions are a mistake anyway, and spend a lot of time talking people out of them.

Just have a look at your groundies wifes hair, and you'll see if he needs glasses or just had a bad day :001_tongue::biggrin:

Saying that, I agree that as much as it sits with climber to do a proper job, I always ask my groundsman "have I missed anything?", and we make sure that all our groundsmen have at least a good idea of what to look for and how to cut.

We are still human and can't notice everything :001_smile:
