Cherry Picker still broke

So cherry picker still playing up, all functions from the ground control box run fine, problems arise when using control cox in basket, I have had an engineer to have a look at it and he seems to be under the impression it's the potentiometer, volts going in are at 4.9v, the working functions operate at 2.4v, and the non working functions are at 1.8v.

He has been in contact with CTE and they advise a replacement of all 5 functions (they would!) at £250 each plus VAT!!, is there anything I can do ie:cleaning the potentiometer as forking out this amount of money will be a last resort.

Are there any firms around that can recondition these potentiometers?

For all those who gave advice previously many thanks!

Any advice will be gratefully received.

John

Hi John, it is highly unlikely to have so many pots go down at once, usual sympton of a failed pot is that it will either fail and cause function to go full speed when activated or minimum speed.

If you have proportional functions at the ground controls and all these functions are working ok then remove this joystick and connect at platform controls and try on the invidual circuits, to help eliminate the pots.

I'm surprised the engineer you had look at didn't do this, it is so easy to guess fix things but this is always at the customers expense, better to prove something has failed first.

I am based in Bristol if you need anymore help give us a bell on monday. 01179 609499

Thanks for your reply Chris, the ground control is different to the basket control so assume this is why the engineer hasn't swapped them over, I'm wondering if the recent bad weather has got into the control panel and is causing the problems, if ok I will give you a call so hopefully you can shed some light on this, thanks again.
