Play area floor covering advice?

Hi, I've cleared an area of my garden which I want to use as a children's play area with swings and slides etc.

I'm looking to cover the floor with a child and dog friendly material which is reasonably cheap as I'm on a tight budget.

The area is approximately 12m x 5m, any advice would be gratefully appreciated!

used tonnes on my play area for kids so soft it about 9inches deep as it rots down just top it up with more.

as for rubber play stuff sitting down with a drink. looking at from £50 per sq mtr for wetpour jungle, tiger mulch looks like bark chippings £60 persq mtr.

had one done for a council 4ft sq £1500. its good but a very dear product.

About 15 years ago, for under a swing / climbing frame, I got some rubber matting that's used in stables (1m square x ~50mm).

I think I paid about £15 each back then. Was considering using bark / wood chip but could just imagine it all over the lawn after each visit to the swing.

These are robust and as good as new. Now just stacked in a corner:001_rolleyes:
