Unusual oak.

I remember seeing this tree in the late 70s but it has since gone. It was called the walking stick oak and was situated in Bagots Park, Staffs. Bagots was a medieval hunting park which was abandoned 600 yrs ago when the family relocated to a bigger house a mile or so away.

So is it a remnant of a clear fell? Why would it be left? Was it not as straight as its surrounding mates!

Pic was taken in 1951. The first branch is at 70'.

As I remember it was virtually dead at the time...70s. I'm pretty sure it fell lifting its root plate. It was just outside the late Phil Drabble's house (he of One man and his dog fame) and the last time I worked there he was very ill and I wanted to ask but was unable to.
