Crane job

hi,

 

Here are some pic's of a Poplar i took down in Chipping Sodbury near Bristol havn't got any to upload of the tree as a whole sadly, but was a fair size in a tricky location with power lines underneith.

 

It was a day with the rigging gear getting the crown off, then a morning with the crane lifting the timbers.

 

Only got pics of the last few cuts as this was when my wife turned up with the camera Lol!! Was a great job thou and went well!

 

Reason for being felled was due to wet rot fungi in the root, stump was completly hollow, good call for the south glos council tree officers Phil and Simon. Company i work for is Lawrence tree services.

How come you didnt use the crane for the crown aswell as the timber?

good pics:thumbup1:, how did you get on with the big step cuts, i can never get them to break off easily when being lifted and always opt for the straight through cut and keep chasing.

That chunky bark must of been tricky with your spikes, did you have any little slips:laugh1:gets the heart pumping even if its only a few inches:blushing:

Came down to cost why we only had it for timber i think. Yea the Pop breaks off easy with a nice step cut just do a good overlap use the lean to ur advantage etc... u can move yourself out the way when the crane cracks them off, its a bit safer i feel. i took my time when moving as had loads of people watching so no slips on this one. have done many many times before tho lol!

yea to right!! i like to keep all my climbing gear simple saves money as well! used to hav an EKN but failed after two years, nicked one of the many little flappy straps. New ekn £200, Willians £135. there is nothing i cant do in it that i could in the ekn!
