a bit of r&r after work.

exploration of a new site, a scramble amongst some very majestic trees, some hunting of the fung & and a couple of ales to finish the evening.

precious little mycorrhyzal activity.

usual suspects there in force, Ganoderma, Meriplius, Laetiporus

favourite of the day were the Geastrums

Well to be honest... every site we went to were pretty amazing, but that big beech just blew my mind!

We had Ale, sausages and Bramble Applepie, so I cant complain... just not there...

I can't recall what time of year you were there ?

Was it September/October?

Where there any micorrhyzae about at that time?

September. Not that I can recall... Saw loads of Laccaria, but not around that tree. Heavy footfall though... Might have something to do...

From what we witnessed yesterday, its possibly a bit more than just footfall.

Whilst we were all up in that beech these bikes came through looking like they new the route well.

They were completely oblivious to the fact we were up above them as there speed & noise must of focused them onto a very narrow window infront of there bikes.
They then tore off to the other side of the woods.

Spoke with some dog walkers later who were non too impressed by the Evel Kneivil wannabes tearing through what is a pretty delicate site
