Spotted this down at the local park whilst out on a walk with the other half, her sister and her boyfriend, and the two dogs!

 

DOnt know why anyone would do this.

 

Plus a picture of an old stump of what i believe to be a sycamore and the dogs next to it.

looks like a chain saw ?? dont think it would be a member of the public if so...i know LA guys who have done this trying to remove ivy on 100+ year old oaks not intenionally they just didnt know any better,killled the tree and he lost his job.

its fairly near a gypsy camp so thats a possibility?

 

big bolt it does seem like a ringbarking attempt. its failed as the tree still seems vigorous and is showing no signs of decline or stress.

 

IT doesnt look like an ivy removal job as theres no evidence of it in the immediate area
