Wood chip

i have built a shelter in my wood for general use and was thinking of putting wood chip on the floor what do you think. I will use the store for log storage and also putting some tables under the shelter when we have b-b-q etc. the next question is there anyone who has a load of decent quality wood chip they need to dump near Tring Hertfordshire. I need wood chip and not too much greenery.

I reckon it would be worth having a look at the tv programme where they renacted a medieval lifestyle. Part of it was showing how they made floors for cottages etc. I can't remember the details but it was either 'Secrets of the Castle' on BBC2 or if not that then it was the same team of people, different programme. I remember thinking I'd like to have a go at making a floor like that.

You would be better using pallets as flooring imo

Pallets would be good but then I would have to cover the pallets with sheets of ply. Thought wood hip would be a cheap option

Chip under logs is a bad idea. It holds moisture and works as a wick, pallets are much better as they create an airgap.

The problem is that I want to use the shelter for eating under when holding B-B-Qs etc. log storage would only be minimal and for a short space of time. Does anyone have any other ideas. I thought wood chip would stop the mud coming up when it is wet outside
