I've watched his 'getting ditched ' over and over and I'm convinced he's staged it . The double units work well on all terrain and some have overrun brakes. (There is good French website but cannot remember the name which has some useful info including people that design modern extraction tools)

The ditching looks like the wood snagged due to extra distance from the cart and twisted the man off. Extraction is dangerous and more so with animals.

I am amazed how well those two small wheels work on rough ground without breaking off.

That little jockey wheel is brilliant but obviously could be quite dangerous if it gets stuck ... your only going one way and thats off !! , I think thats whats happened , the rig starts going over before the wood even moves . A bit puzzling is why he's trying to dislodge wood over a 2 foot stump when the faller / groundsman would have known its getting horse extracted , seems a bit odd that scene to say the least but there again there may well be a sound reason for it

Rubbish.

Poor Horses having to drag logs in the mud so someone holding a whip can post movies to impress people.

Bet those "Horse Skidders" wished they could be in a Pony Club.A few twitches with a crop must beat having to drag logs.

Unfortunately we live in an ever changing and 'upgrading' world, it'll be skills like these that get lost amongst the rat-race that is current civilization

A mad max society looms and these skills will help carry us through

there are however two sides to a coin and as stated sometimes this can go to far and is cruel

Mike if you think you can force horses into doing that your more deluded than i thought , i've seen things in livery yards that i couldnt possibly post on here .
A few twitches with a crop!!! deary deary me you really do have no idea what goes on. Cruelty ???? Death has brightened up an otherwise dull afternoon .
