i would start with ensuring work lights are led, i have some 16 led units on back of my 90 and they are great, used to have 55w halogens and the led units win hands down, both in terms of nicer light and soooo much kinder on battery.

i would see if ranger could be fixed up with second battery and split charge system before fitting work lights, means no flat starting battery and no need to run engine to have work lights on, means no keys in ignition so less theft issue also.
