Basic lightweight rigging kit

Hi,

For the light to medium trees we use,

50m Marlow braid 12mm,

25m Sirius pull rope,

Few tape slings,

5 isc steel karabiners,

Padded green strop,

Small isc red cast block,

Small isc swing cheek pulley,

And figure of eight,

I was asking which lowering devices people use for day to day trees, I'm really not to keen on the portawarp, I do own one but find it flies about and we have had the rope pop off once,

I like the idea that the figure of 8 is small, light simple etc but it curls the lowering rope a lot.

I'm looking into other lowering devices which can be used day to day! As will just use portawarp on big jobs with the heavy lowering kit.

Also looking to work out weights etc so I can see what we can lower on this light system

Thanks

If you had the rope pop off a portawrap it was defiantly setup wrong or you had a tremendous amount of slack in the system and no wraps ???

you will be surprised at what a system can hold if the forces are managed correctly , for top roping you can get away with a lot but id be careful doing negative rigging on such a small line , change your sling on the isc block then get yourself a 14 mm bull rope and a fixed bollard, after that you can dump some pretty serious pieces on the system.
