landrover 90 with chip box?

Hiya.

 

My work truck (l200) has head gasket issues and failed its MOT on a serious amount of welding etc.....! Looking at different options to replace it, would love a 110 tipper but they are way too expensive for me. Was wondering if anyone has a landrover 90 with a chip box on the back? I only do small jobs and recon that the butt on a 90 isn't much smaller than the one on my l200?!?? Reason for looking at landrovers is that they are more robust and simple than the l200. Any ideas??

You'd be better to save for a 110 if it's a land rover you want. A 90 would have rubbish payload, most of your load would be over the rear axle so you'd probably put it overweight before getting to the vehicle's gross weight. It would handle like a pig, even with helper springs.

 

 

The other option would be a 90 with a tipper trailer, bigger payload overall than a 110 tipper and you'd retain the load space of your truck for tools, so you wouldn't need to have them thrown in with the chip.

 

There are companies who do 90 tippers though; Google will find them.

Gd points fellas! Bit lost without my truck at the mo and bit stressed so not making very good decisions at the mo!

 

At least you're going in the right direction vehicle wise, away from family 4x4's and towards work horses ;)

 

Someone will be along soon to take offence to that :rolleyes:

This is a way better idea than making a 90 into a tipper....

But still not a great payload as most are only 3050kg gross. Without lots of fiddling and paperwork it's not that easy to uprate a standard 110.

 

 

Dan have you had to uprate a 110 only ask as I'm trying to do mine at the mo and trying to figure out exactly what I need to do thanks Andy
