Hi

can anyone give me advice on removing the wheels from my self propelled dosco grinder.

Its quite old and the wheels have never been off.

They are keyed and have a circlip on the end of the axles.

We took the circlips off and soaked the ends in oil, lots of hammering and swearing latter and nothing!!!

we put blocks of wood behind the wheels and used car jacks, blow torch and lump hammers but still nothing (unless you count misshaped wheels!).

Maybe real heat?

1Can you drill the wheel centre two or three places near the centre boss, make up/adapt a puller using bolts thru the holes you have drilled and pull it off that way?

2If no joy a tap on the end of the puller (not if hydraulic of course)

3 would be oxyacetlene or propane cutting or welding torch with pressure on the puller.

Apply heat quickly to minimize heat transfer to the shaft. It will come then

Bill Dand or Percy would be the best to ask but Kim who now runs Danequip at Bordon may know.

Silly question I expect but I presume you have checked for a grub screw on top of the key. Sometimes they are at 180 deg or even two of them

Bill and Perce are long gone.....where are they now? Last I heard, Dan was truck driving and Perce was doing something with Dud Thompson! Anyone know better?
