Hi all,

Talking to a friend who has large lawned garden (approx 1/3 acre maybe a little more) he is looking for both a self prop' mower and a 4 stroke (?)strimmer/bc...I am guessing Stihl for the latter?

Any advice on the above, especially mowers please, he has mentioned the Mc CullochM46-125WR...I know their chain saws leave a little to be desired but are their mowers any good? is it really beneficial to go for 4 stroke on the strimmer? etc.

Much appreciate honest opinions/advice to pass on.

Anyone? seems there are many units to choose from....I have no idea so am at a loss ref' suggestions, is there anyone who has used anything decent in the £3-400 range possibly? There is a thread running at the moment but that leans towards pro' units.

Ive been using two Mountfields SP 535 20'' cut Honda engine just over £400 each very happy.Husky or Stihl for strimmer/brushcutter.Mountfield launched a pro brushhcutter not long ago that looks a good bit of kit.All depends what you need it for.If it just to trim grass a stimmer or anything thicker brushcutter and if your going to be using it for sometime get a good harness.Ive just picked up a new Husqvarna 536 LIL battery brushcutter and am well impressed.

Ta' very muchly, will pass on the info'.......sadly I don't have a lawn and what little bit needs strimming I can do with a feeble old petrol job i've had for years but this is a big old garden so the mower will be given some decent use, as will a strimmer...reliability is key for him.

The best advice I would give is t buy what your local mower shop are selling, spend as much as you can afford after letting the man know the garden size etc, and whether you are wanting stripes or not.
