plastic fuel tank bellyed out

greenmech quadchip 160 , only three years old . It has two interlocking plastic tanks , one for hydraulic reservoir and the other for diesel . The hydraulic oil tank appears OK but the diesel one has sagged / bellied out , probably will hold out but looks cheap , any body else had same trouble , also the rear lid catch mechanism is not that well engineered . Has anyone had a tank rupture ? . Greenmech , good chipper but has a few silly design faults that let it down .

Our bellied out after 6months or so.

Annoying as it makes refitting the body panel difficult when you come to grease that hidden belt tensioner.

I don't think it's a rupture risk though.

Mines done the same & greenmech wouldn't fix it under the warranty as it had not split yet. Mines about 3 years old too! You can just about get your arm down the back to the grease nipple if you have one with a flexi hose on it.

Mine did it so bad that it pushed the belt cover into the belts. I can't understand why the tanks are so big?? Especially on a machine where weight is crucial, smaller tanks could mean making the machine stronger, which is needed. They even have a hydraulic oil cooler on them, both tanks could be halved easily.
