It's nylon and the screw that holds carb and air filter on has ruined thread. Can't screw in tight so leaking air. Wrapped a bit of ptfe around screw but seems a bit of a naff repair.Could i fill the hole with jb weld and then when nearly set make a hole and when hard self tap with screw? Or will that be too hard to tap with the self tapping screw.I know i could probably buy one for 15 quid but would prefer to repair it.

I have helicoiled as adw mentioned, just need to swap the course plastic bolts for M5x0.8mm ones which are the typical threaded ones found on most saws.

Sometimes you can fit longer bolts and get a nut on the other side of the plastic moulding but it makes subsequent removal a bit of a pain!

Also worth noting that its best to leave the helicoil a little below the surface, and scrape off any of the little plastic mound left from the stretched plastic thread.

This ensures that the carb seals against the flange.

The Huskie Mondo must be the worse strimmer ever made, also the worse strimmer ever made. I hate them.
