Home made extra blade for processor.

I get to process quite a lot of small diameter wood some of which needs no splitting. Don't know if other processors have the same design but on our Farmi there is block of steel up behind the splitter so removing the blade leaves this block in direct line of the exiting logs and ends up splitting them or firing the logs off in all directions.

Time for a home made bodge. First I just had small piece of angled steel in the blade slot that just had a ramp to push the logs over the steel block. The snag with this is the lengths that may not want splitting at one end may have a few that need splitting at the other so onto bodge 2. Not tried it yet but should work.

I've just had the same thing made

Haha. Guess great minds think alike.

I rang Riko to see if they ever get damaged blades that I could cut down to this but apparently the Farmi blades are pretty unbreakable. Mine may not be as only mild steel and only 10mm at that. went around every fabricating and agi place near by and none had any 12mm plate or hardox

Think you will be surprised how well the mild steel will last.

Despite what people say ive seen splitters with blades made out of mild steel and they have lasted the duration. No doubt there is some soft mild steels out there tho which ont stand the test.

If you do have to make another for whatever reason I may have some 12mm plate offcut laying around as ive been using it making up a splitter at present (depending what size you need obviously)
