Attention Ranger Owners.

GreenMech recently got 3 new Ford Rangers. One of the "deciders" was the 3.5 towing capacity which gave us over capacity towing various combinations of chippers and trailers.

One of our drivers has subsequently noticed that the sums on the makers plate equates to a 2.8 limit. While this has been described as a correctable oversight by Ford - soon to be put right, if you are stopped at the roadside, the plate is taken as correct and the driver could be punished. Our Ford dealership is correcting this for us at Ford's expense but it may be worth checking your own vehicles for this oversight.

That's a rather major oversight, and will they recall all vehicles to fit new plates ? I very much doubt it.

Very similar thing happened to me years ago with a hilux when they went from 1500kg to 2000kg towing capacity, after owning it nearly a month I checked and realised our's had one of the old plates fitted, Toyota insisted they couldn't and wouldn't supply a new plate, instead they gave us a new truck with the proper plate.
