Cheap mower

Hi all, our mower died yesterday and im in the market for a new or second hand rotary push petrol mower for under 200 quid. Anybody selling one or have any suggestions?

Id have a look for either a hayter harrier or a honda with a cast alloy deck. I have used both and the honda is a more robust machine but expensive when it goes wrong. While the hayter has a plastic under deck that can get damaged very easily. Both mowers are extremely good and if looked after will last ages

Have a look around the dealers. I went into my local dealer 2 weeks ago, & they told me that they couldn't sell push mowers, as everyone now wanted powerd ones, so they were discounting the push models.

The same reason I dont want an electric bicycle . Iv got 4 perfectly good limbs and a relatively small lawn. Its spending additional money for no good reason. Thanks for all the input guys, keep em coming!

My local dealer does a half decent mower (cant remember the make sorry!) for £179 with warranty so thats where I will be going when my 35year old Mountfield M4 Major finally dies!! It not showing any signs yet mind, I think they must be the most over engineered mowers ever built, built to properly last!! My mum has had hers from new 36 years ago and still starts it herself she's 74!!

New Mountfields are awful. The mower we had until last week exploded in a cloud of smoke and shards of plastic

I went down my local lawnmower specialist and picked up a second hand 22in 200cc warrior self propelled mower for £50 it was in decent nick no rust and the engine looked brand new and it even had the grass box. It's amazing what these guys have in the back rooms, old part exs I think. It might be worth a shot
