best knot for friction cord on hitch climber?

Hi all,

Just got a Hitch Climber the other day, and been playing with a Distel. I haven't got an eye to eye cord, instead just using a metre of Beal Regate cord on Yale XTC Fire.

I was taught the Buntline as a tie off knot for the main line, and that's all I've ever used really. However, this doesn't seem to be suitable for tying off either side of the pulley, as it's a bit untidy and seems to work loose.

Anyone not using an eye to eye friction cord, what knot do you use to tie off to the karabiner either side of the pulley please? Tried a search but couldn't find anything...

Cheers!

fishermans. have a good look at the knots, pull em tight and dress them proper. tie one up n hold it with the cross section facing you, turn it n youll see the opposite side is pretty flat compared to the cross, this side sits against the pulley. sorry if thats suckin eggs

i use a bit of op with 75cm between the finished knots and the same vt as on the knot guide.

look up the hitchclimbers guide to the canopy vid and pdf if u aint already.

Don't see the point of eye to eye on your main climbing line, cheaper and easier to buy hanks of cord to tie your own, and you can play around a bit finding the perfect length. I tie fishermans as termination, and Knute to climb on.

It takes a bit of time getting used to tying your own and getting everything dialled in but it is worth the reward, experiment try longer lengths with more sit back or a really compact hitch both have good and bad points.

Here is a pic with an M Rig set up, basically I can unclip my spliced eye pass it around a branch or cambium saver and easily creat a secondary anchor point, it's also very easy to place a second self tending hitch in the to make them independent.

You can also see the legs are quite long on this hitch I like it that way at the moment but next time I tie it I'll go short.
