I'd like them to drop a wee bit so Anna and I can but a decent place next year BUT if people start to feel the pinch the work will disappear. We are experiencing a busy spell at the moment and prices have gone up. Not sure how long that will last for though. We do like to panic in this country like the Northern Rock customers who panicked today.

I am resigned to the fact that I will never afford to buy a house. It's a thought that gets me through the day.

I dont care. I'm on a lifetime lease on my farm. I've made money on property, but I wished I'd kept it.
I agree steve, the big crash is looming....

interesting impartial view ed......theres normally 2 views with regards house prices....everyone who owns a house says the prices are going up, everyone who doesnt and wants the prices to go down say so accordingly.....fact is no estate agents or anyone associated with housing cant admit there will be a crash, second they do people stop buying and force the crash.

My family biz is the restoration and refurbishment of houses, so I watch the house prices carefully. I imagine a small drop if things stay as they are, but if the interest rates go up, the repo's will start and a crash will come.

If so i will just buy another couple of houses!

Well, I'm not bothered about owning..the only problem I've had is landlords' antics. This one's ok, apart from the fact that the rent goes up 6% p a.
