Had a very pleasant few hours on Saturday sitting over some decoys, good few birds about coming into the pattern in 4`s and 5`s. Very windy day which meant that the birds came in at a stand still but when turned with the wind were like little grey rockets.

Came away with a bag of twenty, but missed many more, saw a few Roe deer a Heron and lots of skylarks (not seen them for a while)

Great day!

Getting popular in "real" butchers again

Really ? I used to sell a few to the local pubs for their " game pie " . I remember one hot summer I walked up " pigeons in a field of peas . They would get up in front I would drop one , maybe two if lucky . Walk on, pick them up, walk a few more yards and up they went again . I think every ware was so dry they were getting the moisture out of the pea . Must have shot 20 or 25 like that . Had to stop as could not carry them .

I remember

be a year like that.

Cattle farmer over Eley had a big problem with pigeons on his peas due to thirst.

We shot hundreds off there in two attempts.
