Just watched that - a cracking 40 minutes! I read his book Last of the Fen tigers a while back now, so it was nice to see the places he described in that.

What a great video, he really knew how to use that cleave, I've tried one and rods just kept running out.

Fellow charcoal burner I know near oxborough used to makes some of his living from eel netting on the fens til the mid 90s when he couldn't compete with cheap imports from Ireland and numbers plummeting.
