Burrs on tie-straps

My 395xp started cutting curves and despite some really good filing, it still cut a curve. 36" bar.

Then Dave (top cutting chap), noticed that there were 'burrs' on the bottom of every tie-strap/link.

 

What would cause this? Was the chain too tight? Are the insides of the rails worn?

Neither of us have seen this before. I forgot to take a photo but can get one tomorrow, although I'll forget.

Rails could be too wide or is you powemate worn?

Are the burrs on both sides?

what condition is your drive sprocket in?

 

worn sprocket will rapidly wear a chain to match...

 

failing that incorrect chain tension, or lubrication issue will cause rapid wear

Sprocket is ok, I think but I will check.

 

Chain was a bit tight during the last tree.

 

Lub was good. Correct oil and oiler turned right up and not blocked.

Is it a sprocket or a rim?

 

I discarded sprockets as soon as the drive link bottomed out, telltale is a bright spot at the bottom of the sprocket, rims tended to disintegrate as a sign of wear.
