Wood!

Hi,

I've been on the hunt for some timber to make a workbench for my shed for quite a while now. (there are a couple of people on here who i have spoken to, but they are quite far away and i'll bare them in mind if i'm still stuck!)

I'm after 4x4 posts and 4x2 rails. I would have thought dried wood would be the best option as it would not move/shake after its been put together.

I'm near Basingstoke and would like to find a local supplier for future projects as well. The only thing i've managed to source so far is fresh cut Douglas Fir which i am not sure would be that suitable as it would move a lot when it starts to dry? (although i could be wrong!)

So if anyone knows of anyone local to me who supplies timber i would be most grateful!

Cheers, James.

When I made my bench for the top I went to the local builders merchants to see if they had any reject fire door blanks, after a couple of weeks they did and put it aside for me, made a good solid top for my bench that did. Just a wee suggestion for once you have your frame made.
