Unclogging a saw jammed by PPE?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Just wondered how difficult it is to unclog a saw once it's been jammed up by PPE?

My chainsaw trousers have come to the end of their useable life, I figured it may be interesting to test how quick they stop a chainsaw. I'm just not sure if I'll spend the next few hours regretting it as I try to unclog my saw! :confused1:

Thanks in advance...

who in their right mind would try such a thing... you'll have to strip saw I guess..busy night then

Its not a bad idea, PPE does not offer the protection many think, its not a bad idea to stick a log down the leg of some old kecks and stick a saw into it.

Should help the lads to have plenty respect for the saw :thumbup1:

Its always interesting to see. As an example, I have several videos on my youtube channel, nothing particularly exciting but they all took a fair bit of editing as well as physical work etc.....but the one that has the most hits by far is a short clip cutting into chainsaw trousers that Bob took and put on my channel.

If you do it make sure the leg is well fixed to a log or it will drag them into the saw, the biggest problem can be the sprocket nose in the bar clogging with fibres, cut straight across the leg and not at an angle, or near the seam, just remenber a saw running at full throttle with no load will well exceed 20 meters per second so dont be surprised how many layers it goes through.
