We've lost a great man of the trees

Some very sad news both nationally and locally ,Mike Volp Norwich City Council Tree Protection Officer sadly lost his long battle against cancer on Sunday 24th May, he was a true professional passionate man of the trees and will be greatly missed.

 

Hello Philip, I hope you're well.

 

A 'great man' in general in my opinion, not just with the trees but what he did in his life away from trees (I believe he and his wife fostered.) I remember the last time I spoke to him and he told me to "get on with life while you can 'lad' and enjoy it...coz that's what I'm doing", quite profound really.

I quite liked Mike, always had time for him. Never looked for the limelight, but always worked in the background furthering arboriculture. Should've made more of an effort to go and see him, with some people you always expect them to be about.

His decisions, industry input, and legacies live on. :saint:
