husqvarna 45 clutch spring?

hi there im having trouble finding a replacement clutch spring for husky 45 i have possibly found one but the length is 120mm and the one i took off is roughly 150mm would that be close to the proper length , it was really slack on saw hence the need to replace it, also the spring ive found fits huskys 40 42 245r and rx and 240r if any help thanks

Does this match your clutch.7 tooth 3/8 part 5778745-01.

The 40 and 45 share every thing but pot and piston.

 

My 40 has a 3 clutch shoes and spring is about 150mm fitted but not engaged.

 

part number 504 21 00-16 according to my parts pdf.

 

120mm would mean about 25% stretch - looks about right but could be a pig to fit.

I have got longer springs and cut them down before.

 

As long as the diameter is about right and the wire gauge is similar, it works.

 

This is if the original part is unavailable!

That's great I think il get that spring and try it ,it's not expensive so il take a chance

If the original is 150mm and you are trying to fit a 120mm one, there is no way it will fit, it will simply not extend that far!

 

If the spring was 150mm +........you could cut it to size!

O.K I've whipped mine off.

 

Total length 135mm,126mm of coils.

Well your part no. is correct.these springs are a little easier to fit as the shoes are open at the back.

I had a old saw which I found had a similar spring so took it off it was 150mm the same as the original but was to long so I cut a bit off and fits perfect ands runs much better
