Christmas trees

The big question Real or Artificial. And why?

We're artificial in this house. Reason 1 - The wife already had a very nice tree when I moved in and we've kept it because it's already paid for and I'm a true tight arse northerner

Reason 2 - I would imagine in a room with a roaring log burner a real one would drop its needles in no time (could be wrong I'm guessing tbh )

So what have you got

Real, cant work with trees and furnish the house with plastic :sneaky2:

Ours is in a bucket, same one for 3 years, water it every other day and its fine with the wood burner:thumbup:

Same one for 3 years? Does that mean you re plant it after Xmas and dig it up again next year.

One extra question for real trees. How long do you have them up because ours is usually up for the whole of December. Would a real one still look acceptable after 3-4 weeks.

We usually end up going for one the first weekend in December and Mrs insists it stays up for as long as she can get away with into January.

Spruces tend to be looking pretty ropey by then but firs tend to be pretty robust in comparison.

Ours is cut one, it's in the front room and less than 10ft away from the fire too.

I've got a real one this year, only because I knocked the top out of a few Norway spruce so I picked the best top and now its sitting in my living room :laugh1:

Edit I had to do some silky modifications to the base of the tree and get my wife to pass me bits of brash and log through the front window so I could chuck it in the van, but it's nothing a good Dyson can't sort out
