The use of Ladders

This week we were doing a job at an Esso petrol station at the same time as they were having some painting down.

We made access to a conifer from a ladder then tied in and took the ladders down then sectioned a bit of tree which had collapsed on the roof.

When we had finished the job the guy in charge mentioned that they weren't allowed to use ladders on an Esso site insinuating we shouldn't be either.

I completely under stand that working off a ladder can be dangerous but using a serviceable ladder, safely footed to access a tree then tie on surely is widely acceptable?

Any thoughts?

Write the use of ladders into your generic method statement then refer any queries to that document

its probably in their M/S not to use ladders for long duration works

so they probably use mobile towers as their painting

as treequip says write into a M/S ladders to be used for ACCESS ONLY tied in and footed and get yourself a line in the tree first and no problem

im too old now to use any other kind of access :laugh1:
