hi every one, my name is alistair magee.

want some advice and thoughts from any one with regards to what type of timber crane I should look at to buy. i want a trailer mounted crane unit which can be toed with our landrover. ive seen and looked at the Botex38 ifor williams trailer from jas p wilson and im not convinced it will do the job i require. ( does any one have one of these?)

It needs to be self powered and hydrolic like the botex model.

i want a crane to collect a maximum of at least 1 ton. ( tree stems and load and deliver fire wood) and i wanted it to be mounted on a 3500kg trailer that can be used off road as well as on the road, possible Ifor williams flat bed.

does any one have a trailer like this, know any one who can build or put together a unit like this.

i would very much appreciate any help i can get on this matter. 07886028830. or sent me a message.

Hi,

I think you may struggle to get a crane mounted on a ifor type trailer any better than the botex one you describe, mainly due to the extra reinforcing required on the trailer and not exceeding the permited nose weights on the trailer, there have been a few discusions on here over the last 18months about such trailers, but basically i dont think what your after exists, might be worth contacting Chris Shepherd on here (from Riko) and having a chat with him about it, as they do some fast tow forwarding trailers

its the whole weight issue thing like charlie said, i looked into it years ago but the money involved was bonkers for what you actually got. if you add up the cost of a landrover then the trailer, you would be cheaper with a small truck and crane or small mog set up:001_cool:there is a member on here b101uk, (i think) he knows everything there is too know about weights, towing regs etc. i even thought about getting a f150, but that was a no go er as well
