200t running problem.

I have a 200t that won't rev, just splutters, until it's running out of fuel and then it gets better. The carb is set ok and it's not the accelerator pump. Any ideas?

As an engine runs out of fuel the mixture leans out, so if leaning out improves your saw I would guess it is running too rich.

This could be:-

Carb H screw adjustment.

Contamination in metering needle valve (sticking open)

Metering arm set too high (not shutting off)

Clogged air filter.

 

Try these for starters, Good luck.

Thanks for that. I've just swapped carbs with one I know runs fine and it makes this one run fine. The h screw is set on the limit stop so that's ok. I've just taken the plate with the four screws off the carb, is that diaphragm meant to be one piece or two?

Is the idle 100% perfect and even? At what point does the saw struggle, mid revs or just 3/4 + throttle.

 

How do you know it isn't the accelerator pump?

No it doesn't idle. It sounds like a flooded saw just after you've got it going, real rough and won't rev.

 

I've don't the accelerator pump mod so that's fine.

 

What would make it get to much fuel?

Barrie forgot to mention a leaking welch plug and faulty check valve! Have you checked the pumping diaphragm?
