We are getting a lot of site fencing work coming our way at the moment, and we are also about to buy a mini digger for other work we are getting our way! What I want to know or find out is, does a anyone use a auger attachment on a mini digger for fencing and if so how affective are they and does the cost of one really make up the difference?

Any input would be much appreciated

James

Used a 6in one on a 1.5 tonner, wow! great bit of kit, hole dug in solid chalk no problem.

I have an augertorque auger on my takeuchi tb125 (3 tonner) its an exccellant bit of kit, I would recommend getting the auger with the cradle bracket, it makes positioning and travelling with the auger much more accurate and easier.

Used to have one on a 1.5 ton digger too- also excellent and will dig a 4ft deep hole 8"dia in a minute, there wasn,t much it wouldn't bore through- hard compacted shillet, dense soils, compacted tracks. not through solid rock though.

definiately recommend Augertorque.

I hired it a few years ago, cant remember how many holes a day I did. I,d say easily 50 and you don't even break sweat.

Id say in reasonable soils- if your only doing 2ft deep holes you,d easily do 50 holes on a couple of hours. I did 20 holes for someone in shillet the other day. I unloaded the digger, tracked it round the back drilled 20 holes and had the machine back on the trailer within the hour. the holes were already marked out though.

Ive got one for my digger & its great in the right situation, not much good if theres a lot of brick rubble in the soil though as they do tend to wander & have a habit of finding pipes & cables

nice little setup- handy for backgardens, OP- this is what I mean with the cradle bracket- well worth it.
