Cobra tree brace

Hi there. Wondering if this is the right place to post this? Wasn't sure.

I'm after some more in depth Cobra tree brace literature. I understand the installation and basic principles but want to make sure I'm prescribing (and installing) the correct style. I have a large limb to brace on a tree that's been braced using traditional methods which have aged badly, (if they were ever sufficient.) I'm thinking a static support rather than one with give.

Any assistance from people with more advanced knowledge than my own would be fantastic.

Cheers

Cobra's the system with give. Whereas traditional cabling is static, and meant to compensate for a structural flaw.

An old traditional cable that's still intact fits the criteria of a structural flaw IMO.

Asking for advice on specific cabling problems without pics tends to limit my recs though.

Post up some pics of the situation if you can and I'll try to be of more help mate.

Thanks Jonesie, ill take a look. Your right to Jomoco. However as its a job yet to be carried out for a mega land owner in South of england not sure how they'd feel. I'll see if I can covert-ify some photos.

I'm truly baffled by the way so many of you advocate using dangerously inferior synthetic cabling systems on your clients trees.

It's almost as if you don't believe tree squirrels and rats have been documented chewing through synthetic materials all around the world or something!

Tree squirrels? In my client's tree? Nesting material close at hand?

This new synthetic cabling fad's going to bite each one of you that use it in the wallet eventually.

Deservedly IMO.

What happened to good old fashioned common sense in this industry?

Go ahead guys! Screw your paying clients and their trees over big time!

I did assess the likely hood of this as the tree is in a central urban area with no connecting habitats/wildlife corridors I decided the risk of this is slim. Couple this with the fact that the Bracing is only designed for periods of extreme winds to help the copy cope not hold it together and I'm perfectly happy with its use.

Southern California and the UK are very different; flora and fauna.
