What a great looking tool.

Looking at the info quite interesting as it is Carl Petersons son selling/making these...

The Peterson swingmill was the original swingmill - and what a superb piece of kit - you can see a story here 12" AUTOMATED MONO RAIL SWINGBLADE SAWMILL

In fact I still bought one despite the fiasco of the Peterson Skillmill - poorly designed and poorly made (I was the importer for these).

Its cut is a bit limited, being able to do a consistant 12 inch would be wonderful but probably beyond what the 88 could handle hp wise im guessing.

We have some huge trees in ugly gullies to deal with, we have been racking our brains how to get em out, this thing got me excited as other mills either couldn't get in, couldn't work on the contour, logs were to big or would just be to slow.

And I can afford it!

Now finding space to keep it is going to be another problem

An 88 would have enough hp to handle a 12" cut, although it wouldn't be as fast as in that video. I'm on much safer ground here than with the racksaws being discussed earlier in the week - we have a sawbench with a 24" blade running a 10" cut off a 5hp Lister B at 650rpm and it does it easily enough.

If it could handle a 10" or 12" cut it would do just about anything you ever needed as a finished size.

Be interesting to see more information on them.

I don't know if any larger than 6" would be viable - I have the 8" Peterson mill with a 24 hp twin honda engine and it mills 8" fine but still has to work at it.

If you have trees in gullies etc - an Alaskan chainsaw mill will do the trick.
