There was a skill shortage 12 years ago when I spent 6 months there, but from what I can gather, there is no skill shortage now. I worked in Brisbane, and it was a bit like being in the Royal marines - damn good to boast about and tell stories, but flippin' unpleasant at the time. Scorching heat, poisonous insects, very big trees in tight locations, and a lots & lots of very dodgy operators.

Good friend of mine has been out in Australia for over twelve years, tree work, rope access, on the tools and training people, in Oz and Papua New Guinea, he is now studying to become a Policeman and then joining the rescue squad, he's also getting married, so Australia can still be the land of opportunity.
