New bar and chain for Dolmar 109.

Going to treat the little Dolmar to a (long overdue) bit of a service/check over including a new bar and chain.

 

Firstly, anywhere particularly recommended to deal with or stay clear of, I'll be buying mail order either online or telephone, not bothered which.

 

Second, baffling array of bars and chains available, don't need anything fancy or specialised but rate genuine good quality above price, also must be ok for hand sharpening, again any particular recommendations? My notion is just to go with Oregon as a safe bet but quite happy to listen to decent advice to the contrary or other alternatives.

 

Finally, how do I know if I need a new sprocket to go with the chain or is it like the bikes whereby it's usually a given to replace it.

Looks like the oregon K095 mount - so if you 'pretend' to have a husky say 346 all these bars will fit it.

Sugi light type bars are very high quality!

 

Chains can be found on the chain selector Chains

 

Ref sprocket - oregon do have them - look at the wear on the current sprocket Sprocket care some info here... if in doubt replace.

 

I'd have to get the sprocket in if you wanted to buy off me - although may have it on the shelf.

Oregon bars only, so if youd prefer other makes youd need to look elsewhere. They do Carlton chains which iv heard varying comments about, but i get on fine with them for hacking up firewood.

Ordered up a new Oregon bar with Multicut chain to suit on Wednesday afternoon and while I was at it, included spare chains for both the ms440 and the 266 in the order. Got an e-mail at tea time to say that everything was on it's way and it arrived just after lunch time today.

 

So excellent service all round and free delivery to Northern Ireland as it should be.

 

Well pleased and would definitely have no hesitation in recommending to anyone else.
