I normally keep all my fuel receipts and when i do my tax return send them all of to the accountant who tallys them up for me. Is there anything to say i cannot add them up myself and present the final number to the accountant? I am trying to find ways of saving some hard earned money :thumbup1:

my accountant was £1200 last return after me preparing everything on spreadsheet that took about 5 days. i think their price reflects the amount of receipts you have, try get an account with a local petrol station so you have one print out for the whole year

I am trying to download the payroll calculator from HMRC but for some reason it wont work! I need to keep a tight rein on whats going in and whats going out and do more of my accounts myself i think i will get a better grip on things then.

We normally fill up wherever we can as where i live there's not a petrol station really close by. How exactly does a spread sheet work? i have never used them

Type in "excel for beginners" on YouTube, that should get you started. Send me a PM if you get stuck on anything. Cheers
